Mass Extinction
I feel that we are not currently in a mass extinction. I think if we were in a mass extinction, there would be more news about it and what should be done to stop this extinction. I think some people may think we are in a mass extinction because there are animals and plants that are going extinct but not to an extent that we could call it mass extinction. If we were going through a mass extinction, I think people would be a lot more concerned about it.

I think that you are right, if there was more talk about a mass extinction in the media it would definitely alarm people. However, the media seems to focus on the here and now. They don't generally talk about what could happen in say 10,000 years from now because the people they are reporting to won't be alive then. People are generally concerned about the here and now. We don't often look to far into the past or that far into the future because they are generations upon generations past our time. It may just be too big of a time scale for us to truly comprehend. I really can't say if we are heading toward a mass extinction, I don't have enough information, but there are some red flags. For example the changes in temperature, sea level, and habitats are alarms that coincide with extinction patterns of the past.
