I researched the Sea Turtle (Chelonia mydas in Latin).
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Sauropsida
Order: Testudines
Suborder: Cryptodira
Superfamily: Chelonioidea
Sea turtles can be found in all oceas except for the polar regions. It has been speculated that sea turtles live about 80 years. Sea turtles numbers used to be in the thousands, but more recently because of poaching and hunting, these numbers are now in the hundreds. Sea turtles nest just as any other turtle does. The female sea turtle comes onto the beach. They find a place to burry their eggs in the sand and incubation takes about two months.
Sea turtles are listed as endangered. There are three types of sea turtles that are critically endangered, these include: the leatherback, Kemp's ridley, and hawksbill turtles. One of the reasons for this is because of beach development. Sea turtles come to the same beach to lay their eggs, if these areas are developed, they may be left with nowhere to nest or their nesting locations may be threatened by human activity. So be curtious and watch for these loveable creatures or soon, they will be no more.
How sad... they can live that long & lay anywhere from 50 to 200 eggs at a time and yet they are endangered:(
